Calvin Monroe Baggett was born in Marion County, Georgia on April 16, 1842 to Archibald Tennell Baggett and Nancy Mott. He was a Civil War veteran having served in the Confederate States of America - Company D, 36th Regiment, Mississippi Infantry. He was captured and held as a prisoner of war before his release on June 2, 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Calvin Monroe married Winnie Francis Walters around 1870.

He died On March 6, 1936 and is buried at Improve Cemetery, Columbia, Marion County, Mississippi.


Calvin and Winne had three children:

Asa William Baggett (1873-1942)

John William Baggett (1877-1957)
