Martha Emma James

(1866-1951)

Martha Emma James was born on April 29, 1866 in Newton County, Mississippi to William Elias James and Martha Emma Gaines. She married William Robert Moore on December 11, 1884. Martha Emma died on April 16, 1951. She is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Union, Newton County, Mississippi.

 Martha Emma and William Robert had a very large family consisting of seven sons and five daughters born between the years of 1885 and 1908:

Susie (30), Vergie (26), Cecil (23), Milton (21), Dana (19), Talmadge (15), Jessie (13), and Thomas (11) are all living with W. R. and Emma.

1930 Census - Dixon and Waldo Community, Neshoba County, MS

By 1930 W. R. and Emma had become "empty nesters" as all twelve of their children had left the family home. A well deserved respite at the ages of 66 and 63.

1940 Census - Dixon and Waldo Community, Neshoba County, Mississippi

W. R. at 74 years of age and Martha Emma at 74 years of age with Talmadge and his wife, Emma Jean living with them.
