Thomas Osborne III of Coxendale

1641-1692


The third of five successive generations of Thomas, this Thomas Osborne was the first born in America (1641), and he resided his entire life in Coxendale, Henrico County. He married Mary Bailey about 1657, the mother of the succeeding Thomas (IV) Osborne (1665-1733)


Thomas and Mary Bailey had a total of four children:

John Osborne (1660-1695)

Keziah Williamson Osborne (1674-1736)


It is recorded that Thomas III married his second wife, Martha Griegg, widow of John Branch in 1689 and that there were no children from that union.


Thomas,3 of " Coxendale," born I641, died I692; married Martha, widow of John Branch. He is frequently referred to in the records of Henrico, as " Mr. Thomas Osborne." His will was proved in Henrico, in May, I692. He left his son John 200 acres of his plantation at Coxendale, wife Martha the use of his house, &c., for life, and gave his son Thomas the land where said son then lived. In the county levy of I679 he was assessed with seven tithables, and at his death his personal estate was appraised at (?)


Like his father, was buried at Henrico Parish Church Cemetery as is his first wife, Mary.
