Edward Thomas Rutledge was born about 1667 in Kilkenny, Ireland to John James Rutledge and Lady Jane Anne Stewart. 

Edward also died in Kilkenny in the year 1725 at the age of 58.

In about 1690, Edward married Elizabeth Mary Graem and together they had eight children:
