William Robert Moore

(1863-1956)

William Robert Moore was born in Henry County, Georgia on July 1, 1863 to the Reverend James Milton Moore and Susan Columbia Rebecca Knox Cheek. It appears that William Robert was commonly known as "W. R. Moore".

He and Martha Emma James married on December 11, 1884 in Neshoba County, Mississippi.

W. R. died on November 23, 1956 and is buried at Memorial Park Cemetery in Union, Mississippi.


W.R. and Martha Emma had a very large family consisting of seven sons and five daughters born between the years of 1885 and 1908:

Susie Moore lived there in later life. The house was just north of that of Milton and Mary Moore.

W. R. Moore and Emma with the first eight of their twelve children.

Ten children from age 1 to age 22 living at home

Also shown is that they were neighbors of Emma's older brother William Martin James and his family


1920 Census - Dixon and Waldo Community, Neshoba County, Mississippi

Susie (30), Vergie (26), Cecil (23), Milton (21), Dana (19), Talmadge (15), Jessie (13), and Thomas (11) are all living with W. R. and Emma.



1930 Census - Dixon and Waldo Community, Neshoba County, MS

By 1930 W. R. and Emma had become "empty nesters" as all twelve of their children had left the family home. A well deserved respite at the ages of 66 and 63.


1940 Census - Dixon and Waldo Community, Neshoba County, Mississippi

W. R. at 74 years of age and Martha Emma at 74 years of age with Talmadge and his wife, Emma Jean living with them.
