George Washington Osburn Sr.
1766-1859
George Washington Osburn was the son of Samuel Osborn and Rebecca Smith. He was born on May 23, 1766 in Chesterfield County, VA. It appears that George was the first Osborn to leave the Virginia Colonies and head southwest through the Carolinas and into Georgia.

George married Sarah Jane Atwell (1770-1810) in 1790. Records indicate that Sarah was born in Essex County, MA although it is unclear the circumstances of her migration to the South. Sarah died at the age of 40, possibly giving birth to her fourth child, and George married again in 1817 to Martha White (1798-1850) of Stewart County, GA.Â
